What to expect out of Thunderbird 3: upcoming version of Mozilla Thunderbird

Currently Thunderbird is in its 2nd Generation avatar and People at Mozilla and other open source developers are planning for Thunderbird 3.0 code-named "Shredder".
It has already reached 2nd Alpha stage and lot more refinements are being done. Lets look at the features which are going to be added in Thunderbird 3.0
Goals:
- To ensure that Thunderbird keeps up with the evolution of the Mozilla platform
- To increase adoption of Thunderbird
- To improve usability
- To facilitate the development, dissemination and use of extensions
Features to Expects:
- It has been planned to build Thunderbird 3.0 on top of Gecko 1.9.1 engine.
- Simple Account Setup (Auto configuration) Feature
- Bundling Lightning 1.0, possibly with the GData provider making Thunderbird help you track your tasks, calendar
- Faster content search
- Improved address book usability
- GMail IMAP support
- Improved Extension Installation process
- Tabs feature (’killer feature which made Mozilla and Opera click)
- Roaming features
- Support for winmail.dat
- and many more will be added
