Maruti Suzuki Swift vs Hyundai i20 and image gallery

Feb 21st, 2009 | By Premnath Sah | Category: Cars & Bikes, Hyundai, maruti

Hyundai has released i20 this year to shakeup the market and bring some sleepless night for Maruti Suzuki Swift sales team. Lets look how these two compare. When it comes to looks Hyundai 120 is stunning and unique, its definitely a head turner. But, in performance segment the 1.3litre Suzuki engine has still some steam remaining with its diesel’s characteristc peak torque coming in at very early 2000 rpm whereas i20 requires leisurely 4000 rpm. Swift will be very handy when it comes to city driving. i20 petrol will be rev happy with redline @ 5200 rpm.

Hyundai will release diesel i20 soon and the competition will become even more intense.

  1. What kind of a crap comparison is that?
No one compares petrol with diesel.
i20 doesn’t even match i10 on performance, let alone swift.

  2. Hi JPS,

We strongly disagree with you. We compared this because people will like to buy a car in a segment with a given price point. So they need to know which is better. Here swift and i20 are in same segment and hence this comparison

  3. Can you suggest if a person has a budget of 5L & wnts

    -Good engine
    -Good looks & features
    -Better re-sale
    -Better drive
    -Better mileage

in tht order…which car should one go for.

My belief is stick to the proven swift. i20 has the same engine tht does duty on i10. its like buying a swift with a wagon R engine on it.
the only diff btwn i10 & i20 is the length & looks of the car. all the features are available in the after market & paying good 1.3 L for this is sheer customer mockery.

  4. U just cant compare a swift with an i20 ….. i hav drvn both..swift is much powerful & faster..i20 is only better with features as compared 2 swift…
