Lamborghini Insecta Concept details and images

Mar 10th, 2009 | By Premnath Sah | Category: Cars & Bikes, Hot, Sport, concept cars, lamborghini

The Lamborghini Insecta Concept is a design study of a 2-seater mid-engined supercar created by Romanian Iulian Bumbu. The design combines the brand’s styling cues with elements inspired by insect exoskeletons.

The idea was to create an extreme race-oriented supercar with a style that introduces softer and more organic lines and integrate them into the geometrical style of Lamborghini.

The main inspiration came from nature, and in particular from the exoskeletons found in insects (bugs). This kind of “armour” appearance is particularly visible in the back and top views.

The dimensions af the car are a length of 4,300 mm (the same as the Gallardo), a height of 1,000 mm and a width of 2,000 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. The body structure and panels are made of carbon-fiber and the powertrain is the same adopted on the Gallardo.

About the Designer:

Iulian Bumbu was born on 21 July 1981 in Bechet (Romania).

He received a Master Diploma in Car Design from Scuola Politecnica di Design Milano (2007-2008), and a degree from National University of Art Bucharest – Product Design Department (2004).

Among his professional experience are a three-months internship at Centro Stile Alfa Romeo (2008) and three years of experience as a 3d modeler and texture artist at AMC Studio.

Wheego Whip – All electric car

Mar 8th, 2009 | By admin | Category: Cars & Bikes, Electric, concept cars

Georgia-based company starts out with a low-speed, lead-acid two-seater, but it’s planning to deliver a lithium-ion battery electric next year. This looks like a competition for our own Reva (G-Wiz).

Top Speed which can be achieved by this car is 40kmph. For $18,995, you get a two-seater with air-conditioning, power windows, locks, four-wheel disc brakes and an MP3- and iPod-ready stereo. This thing pretty expensive for what it promises to do. In comparison our own Reva has a top whack of 80kmph and comes with A/C.

The Tata Prima, the concept luxury sedan designed by Pininfarina, is an iteration of the next generation luxury sedan from Tata Motors. It combines the fundamental design characteristics of the Tata brand, as seen in the Tata Indigo, with sporty curvatures to create a coupe-like silhouette, simple yet refined with an inherent premium.

The Tata Prima’s large wheelbase of 2.70 metres endows it with excellent interior space that a luxury sedan demands. The subtle treatment of the C pillar, the hallmark of a Pininfarina design’s gracefulness and sporty characteristic, brings forth a coupe-like sloped cabin and tapering back without compromising interior space. The result is that the Tata Prima concept exudes an overall elegance, endowed with style, luxury and comfort and proportions that are classical yet modern.

Tata Motors plans to bring out hybrid Nano

Mar 5th, 2009 | By Rosh PR | Category: Cars & Bikes, Electric, Hot, concept cars

Tata Motors is working on a micro-hybrid version for the Nano that will increase the fuel efficiency of the world’s cheapest car further, while cutting down its emission. The company is in discussions with Bosch, the world’s biggest component supplier, for sourcing the technology that is already being used by Mahindra & Mahindra in India and other automakers abroad, industry sources said.

Recent news reports suggest that, Bosch will provide the micro-hybrid technology to Tata. This system would allow the engine to automatically turn off when the vehicle is stationary (at traffic signals). The engine starts up, once movement is required.

In the wake of stricter fuel consumption and emission norms, this micro-hybrid technology can be employed in regular vehicles at a much lower cost than full hybrid systems. The micro-hybrid technology will also be available on the Tata Nano Diesel  and in the electric variant.

Mercedes BlueZero: Electric (E-Cell), Extended Electric (E-Plus Cell) and Fuel Cell (F-Cell)

Dec 14th, 2008 | By Premnath Sah | Category: Cars & Bikes, Electric, concept cars, mercedes

Merceded plans to go green with its BlueZero range of cars. This green car comes in 3 variants namely E-Cell, E-Plus Cell and F-Cell.

Concept BlueZero E-Cell:

It’s powered by an electric motor and a lithium ion battery that supports plug-in charging that give you 100km of maximum range in 2 hours of charging.

BlueZero E-Plus Cell:

It’s an extended range electric vehicle, which means it has an internal combustion engine installed at the back that burns through regular fuel not to power the wheels but to generate electricity to recharge the batteries. This takes the range up to 600km, and you can get more just by topping up the fuel.

BlueZero F-Cell:

which uses a fuel cell that produces electricity from hydrogen
